A commisioned work for the 100th aneversary of Vor Frue Sogn (Our Lady’s Parish), which has Haderslev Domkirke as main church. The church is much older, but the parish wasn’t established untill 1923 after the southern part of Jutland was re-united with Denmark after WW1. I have been lucky to work with the astonishing church room once before in another project, and it is of course an amazing oppertunity to try to create an an experience of celebration. Haderslev Domkirke has the tallest church nave in Denmark, with 22 meters to the highest point of the domes.
I decided to draw a replica model of the church and 3D print 100 pcs. and put light in them. The 100 churches covered the three aisles and was practically the only light source in the nave.
In the chancel I placed a quadrophonic speaker system and 6 beach chairs where visitors could sit/lie and look at different generative video mappings, projected into the ceiling above the chancel.
ANOTHER CENTURY – SHORTENED VERSION
Here is a shortened snippet of the music for the event. It is not really thought to be a chronologically listening experience and it progresses slowly trough some different moods, designed for the expected audience of the event and the church acoustics.
